About

Darien Eckberg is a professional landscape designer and owner of Darien Eckberg Designs, a residential landscape design company in the San Francisco East Bay region.

She has been qualified as Bay Friendly Landscape Design Professional.

Darien specializes in regionally appropriate landscape design for residential gardens: gardens designed around time-honored horticultural principles, ecologically-sound plant palettes, sustainable materials, and good gardening practices.

She has designed for clients in California and Montana.

Darien holds certificates in Advanced Landscape Design & Construction, and Basic Horticulture from Merritt College in Oakland, CA.

She has also taken landscape design courses at U.C. Berkeley Extension’s Garden Program in San Francisco, and Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, CA.

Darien is a current member of The Garden Conservancy and The U.C. Botanic Garden (Berkeley) and a former Associate member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD).

HYPERTUFA ARTIST

Darien consults, designs & fabricates commissioned hypertufa works.

She completed a commission for the San Francisco Exploratorium Museum in June 2010.

Darien has taught sold-out hypertufa workshops at Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley, CA,  The Gardens at Heather Farms in Walnut Creek, CA, The Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek, CA, and at the Redux Studios and Gallery in Alameda, CA.
