What is Hypertufa?
Hypertufa is a lightweight material composed of the following horticultural materials: vermiculite, sphagnum peat moss, sand, or coir plus Portland cement mixed with water.

Hypertufa looks like stone but without the heft, and has absorbent properties similar to tufa rock. This medium can sustain mosses and lichens to further its natural appeal.

Hypertufa creations are very plant friendly— they have very thick walls that keep plant roots moist in hot, dry weather, and are porous which allows for easy passage of air to the root system—not possible with traditional terra cotta or plastic pots.

Hypertufa resists cracking in freezing weather which makes it durable with respect to the elements in many different climates.

Hypertufa is perfect for making long lasting garden containers and ornaments. Classical examples include large rough troughs. Pots, spheres, bird baths, fountains, boulders are other ideas. You are only limited by your imagination!
